What is seasonal work really like?
Seasonal work is fixed-term employment during an employer's busiest part of the year. It usually comes with clear start and end dates, a quicker start in the role and a busy working environment.
Pay, working hours, accommodation and language requirements vary between employers. Staff housing is often available for seasonal roles, but the cost and conditions differ from one workplace to another.
For many people, seasonal work is a practical way to work abroad for a defined period, gain international experience and see whether a different country or working environment suits them.

A few lines are enough. Our recruitment team reads your message and replies to tell you honestly what fits, now or later on. We usually reply within a day or two, in Estonian or English. Name and email are needed, the rest is up to you.
What a season is actually worth
A season can be worth more than the hourly rate suggests. Finland’s MaRa hospitality agreement sets minimum terms for Sunday pay, shift supplements and holiday compensation.
- Double basic pay on Sundays and listed public holidays. For work covered by the MaRa agreement, basic pay is doubled for those hours.
- Evening and night supplements on top. They are added for qualifying hours and are also doubled on Sundays and the listed public holidays.
- Unused holiday is paid out. When employment ends, you receive compensation for accrued holiday you have not taken.
- Progressive tax can mean very low income tax. Estonian tax residents staying in Finland up to six months can apply for progressive taxation. Low annual income can mean a rate close to zero. Your rate takes account of relevant full-year income and deductions; pension and unemployment contributions may still apply.
- Staff accommodation is often affordable. In the Lapland offers we have seen, staff housing has usually come at a modest monthly rent, sometimes shared. We explain the actual rent, location and terms before you decide.

You sign with the employer
Your contract is with the hotel or restaurant directly. We help with the tax forms and stay with you until you start.
